Connect ChatGPT to ContentForge

Add ContentForge to ChatGPT as a custom connector (MCP server) that signs in with your ContentForge login, where your ChatGPT plan allows custom connectors.

Updated October 15, 2026

ChatGPT can connect to ContentForge as a custom connector, if your ChatGPT plan lets you add your own MCP server. It signs in with your ContentForge login, the same way Claude does.

Does it work?

Yes, with one condition on ChatGPT's side:

  • What ContentForge supports: the standard MCP sign-in that ChatGPT uses. ChatGPT registers itself with ContentForge automatically, sends you to ContentForge to sign in and approve, and gets a secure connection back. You don't need an API key, a client ID or a secret.
  • What ChatGPT needs to allow: adding your own MCP server with full tools. In ChatGPT this has been called developer mode, custom connectors or apps, and which plans have it changes often. If your ChatGPT only offers search-only connectors (for research), ContentForge won't work there, because ContentForge's tools do real work rather than just searching.

If you can't add a custom MCP server in your ChatGPT, use another app, such as Claude.ai.

Steps

  1. In ContentForge, go to Settings → API & MCP and click Copy next to MCP server URL in the Connect your AI card.
  2. In ChatGPT, open its settings and find where you add a custom connector or app (you may need to switch on developer mode first).
  3. Create a new one. Name it "ContentForge" and paste the URL as the MCP server URL.
  4. For authentication, choose OAuth. Leave client ID and secret empty.
  5. Save, then connect. A ContentForge page opens.
  6. Sign in with your ContentForge email and password if asked.
  7. On the connect page, pick your agency under Account, tick what it may do (Change drafts, and Publish only if you want it to publish), check that "you go back to" shows ChatGPT's address, and click Allow.
  8. You're sent back to ChatGPT and the connector shows as connected.

Use the main ContentForge address for this, not one of your client domains.

Check it worked

  1. In a new chat, switch on the ContentForge connector from the chat's tools menu.
  2. Ask: "List my clients in ContentForge." ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it uses a tool. Confirm.
  3. In ContentForge, Settings → API & MCP → Connected apps (sign-in) shows the app as Active.

Good to know

  • ChatGPT may ask you to confirm every change it makes. That's ChatGPT's own safety step. ContentForge still asks before anything that costs credits, whatever ChatGPT does.
  • To change what it may do, disconnect it in Connected apps (sign-in) and connect again.
  • If ChatGPT doesn't see new ContentForge tools, refresh the connector in ChatGPT's settings, or disconnect and connect again.
  • In the Mount Olympus editor, its changes are credited to the name ChatGPT gave itself, or "A connected AI app".
