ContentForge emails you whenever your password or your sign-in email changes, so you'll know straight away if it wasn't you. These emails never include your password.
"Your ContentForge password was changed"
You get this email when your password changes in any of these ways:
- You changed it yourself on Settings → Profile.
- You used a Forgot password? link, or a reset link your agency's Owner or an Admin sent you, to choose a new one.
It names your account's email and when the change happened, in your agency's time zone (the one set on Billing & credits), with the zone named. If none is set, it's Eastern Time, the same default billing uses. If it was you, there's nothing to do.
Choosing your first password from a team invite doesn't send this email, and neither does choosing your first password with Forgot password? while your invite was still waiting. See Accept a team invite.
"Your ContentForge email address was changed"
How to change your sign-in email:
- On Settings → Profile, enter your new email and save it. You'll see "Confirmation emails sent. Check both your current and new email addresses — the change finishes once the links are clicked."
- Click the confirmation link in both inboxes. After the first one you'll see "Confirmed. Now click the link we sent to your other email address to finish the change."
- Once both are clicked, you'll see "Your sign-in email was changed. We've sent a notice to your old and new addresses."
Both addresses then get "Your ContentForge email address was changed", naming the old and the new address and when it happened. The old address won't get account emails any more.
What's in each email
- No password, ever.
- A Reset my password button, which opens Forgot password on the sign-in page.
- A Contact ContentForge support link.
If it wasn't you
- Click Reset my password in the email (or go to Forgot password? on the sign-in page) and choose a new password straight away.
- If your sign-in email was changed and you can't get into your account any more, open a support ticket from Help → Submit a Ticket, or ask a colleague who's an Owner or Admin to contact us.
Your clients
Client people who use your portal get the same "Your password was changed" email when their portal password changes. It's sent in your branding (your agency name, logo, color and contact email), shows the time in your agency's time zone, and never mentions ContentForge. Its reset button opens your portal's sign-in page, and its help line points to your contact email.
Other account emails
- "Welcome to ContentForge": sent once when a new agency signs up, with an Open ContentForge button and first steps. See Getting started with ContentForge.
- " invited you to ContentForge": a team invite. See Accept a team invite.
- "Reset your ContentForge password": a reset link you asked for, or one your Owner or an Admin sent. It works for 1 hour and only once. See Sign in and passwords.
Limits and what it can't do
- At most 3 "password changed" emails per account in 10 minutes. If several changes happen in a burst, later ones in that window don't send an email.
- You can't switch these emails off. They're for your security.
- An email change waits up to 7 days for both links to be clicked. After that, start again.
- The email doesn't say who made the change or from where.
Who can use it
Everyone with a ContentForge sign-in: Owners, Admins and Members. Client portal people get the white-label version.
Troubleshooting
- I didn't get the "password changed" email: check spam. If you changed it several times in a few minutes, only the first 3 send. Choosing your first password from an invite doesn't send one.
- My email change didn't finish: you need to click the link in both inboxes. If one never arrived, check spam, then start the change again on Settings → Profile.
- "That's already your sign-in email.": you entered the address you already use.
- "Sign in again to change your email.": your session ran out. Sign in and try again.
- "Passwords do not match" on Settings → Profile: type the same new password in both boxes.
- I got an email about a change I didn't make: follow If it wasn't you above straight away.
