Some clients like to make small site changes or check their numbers from their own AI assistant. You can let them, one person at a time, without giving them anything more than they already have in the portal.
Turn it on
- Open the client and go to Client → Settings.
- Click Edit access next to the person.
- Under AI connections, tick Connect your own AI tools and click Save.
It's off for everyone by default.
What the client does
In their portal, the person clicks the plug icon (AI connections). There they'll find the server address and steps to connect their AI assistant (such as Claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code) by signing in with their portal login. For apps that can't sign in, they can Make an API key on the same page. They can see and disconnect their own connected apps there too.
What their connection can do
- Only this client, and only the sites this person is assigned.
- Only what their other permissions allow. Someone with Blog can draft and publish posts but not change the design; someone with only Site performance & stats can read reports and nothing else.
- Parts of a page you've locked for client editing stay locked.
- Never Zeus, and never anything that costs your credits.
- Never your agency-only tools: adding clients or sites, social posts, press releases.
See MCP permissions explained for which permission unlocks what.
Changes show up in the editor straight away
If you or the client have the site open in the editor while their AI assistant works on it, the changes appear as they're made, with a short note such as "Claude updated 'Opening hours'". Nobody needs to refresh.
See and revoke connections
At the bottom of Client → Settings, AI connections lists every app the client's people have connected and every key they've made. Click Revoke, then Yes, to cut one off.
Untick Connect your own AI tools for a person, or remove them, and all their connections stop working straight away. Their list shows "permission off — their connections don't work".
