A Dynamic Repeater shows a collection's items as cards: team members, services, locations, projects. You design the first card once and connect its widgets to the collection's fields. Every other item gets the same card with its own words and pictures. Add an item to the collection and a new card appears; no page editing needed.
You need a collection first. See Collections and dynamic pages.
How to add one
- Open Add in the left rail and go to Dynamic.
- Drag Dynamic Repeater into a section, column or inner column (or click it to add it to the selected container).
- It starts with one card holding a picture, "Item title" and "Item description". The canvas says "Choose a collection for this Dynamic Repeater in the design panel."
- Select the repeater, click Design, and under Collection pick one in Show items from.
How to design the card
- Click a widget inside the first card, for example the picture.
- In its toolbar click More > Connect to Data (or Connect to Data on the toolbar for client people with only that permission).
- Pick the collection field it should show, for example Photo. Do the same for the title and description.
- Style the first card like any box: select the card and use its Design panel. Every card follows.
- To make each card open its item's page, give a button (or the whole card, with Link) the link Dynamic page with item The current item (each item links to its own page). See Link picker.
Editing the first card edits every card. The other cards are read-only copies on the canvas. More on connecting in Connect to Data.
Collection
- Show items from: the collection to repeat. "Choose a collection" until you pick one. If the site has none: "This site has no collections yet — create one in CMS → Collections." Changing the collection clears the filters and sort, since its fields are different.
- The line under it: "Showing N of M visible items. Connect the widgets in the first item to this collection's fields with Connect to Data." Hidden items never show.
- Manage collection: opens the collection in the CMS so you can add or edit items.
- Refresh data: reloads the items, for example after someone else edited the collection.
Filter & Sort
Shown once a collection is chosen.
- Filters: "All visible items are shown." until you add one. Add filter, then pick the field, the condition and a value. Conditions: is, is not, contains, greater than, less than, is empty, is not empty (the last two need no value). For a multi-select field with is or is not, tick one or more options; items with any ticked option are shown (or hidden). Remove a filter with its x. With several filters, an item must pass all of them.
- Match this dynamic page (only on a dynamic page): Off — show the same items on every entry (default), or a pairing like "Service = page's Name" or "Service = page's item URL". "Only items whose field matches the current entry are shown." Use it for "projects for this service" or "staff at this location".
- Sort by: Collection order (default, the order in the CMS) or any field, then Ascending or Descending.
- Number of items: leave empty for All, or type how many to show.
Items Layout
- Items per row: 1–6. Defaults 3 on desktop, 2 on tablet, 1 on phones. Per screen size.
- Space between items: 0–120px, default 24. Per screen size.
Under these is the usual container panel for the repeater's own frame: background, border, corners, shadow, spacing, size and animations. See Section and column design.
Hide a card when a field is empty
Select the card (the box around the first item's widgets). Its Design panel shows Visibility with "Hide this column when … is empty". Turn it on and pick the field in Field that decides if there are several. Items with nothing in that field get no card on the live site. In Edit mode the first card always stays so you can design it.
Examples
- A plumber's service list: a Services collection, repeater with 3 per row, each card a photo, the service name and a Learn more button linking to the current item's page.
- Team on the About page: Staff collection sorted by a Sort number field, Ascending, Items per row 4 on desktop and 2 on phones.
- Projects on each service page: on the Services dynamic page, a repeater over Projects with Match this dynamic page set to "Service = page's Name", Number of items 6.
- Only featured reviews: a filter Featured is Yes.
Limits and what it can't do
- "A Dynamic Repeater can't go inside another Dynamic Repeater".
- The editor shows up to 12 cards: "Showing 12 of N items — the live site shows all of them."
- No pagination or "load more"; use Number of items to keep long lists short.
- One card design for all items. You can't style one item differently, but you can hide a card when a field is empty.
- The toolbar's Add menu doesn't work on the repeater itself. Add widgets inside the card.
Who can use it
Anyone with the Mount Olympus tool. Client people (see Client permissions) need Editor to add the repeater and change its Design panel, and Dynamic pages & Connect to Data to connect widgets to fields and manage collections. Content Library lets them edit collection items, which is how the cards' words and pictures change.
Troubleshooting
- "Choose a collection for this Dynamic Repeater in the design panel.": pick one in Show items from.
- "No collection items match this Dynamic Repeater's filters.": loosen or remove a filter, or check the items aren't hidden in the CMS.
- "Shows items matching the dynamic page's current row — none on this page.": Match this dynamic page is on but no item matches this entry, or you're not viewing an entry. Pick an entry with matches, or set the pairing to Off.
- Every card shows the same words: the card's widgets aren't connected. Use Connect to Data on each one.
- New items don't appear: click Refresh data, check Number of items, and check the item is visible in the collection.
- "A Dynamic Repeater can't go inside another Dynamic Repeater": drop it outside the other repeater.
- "This Dynamic Repeater has no card layout. Delete it and add a new one from the Add panel.": the card was removed. Delete the repeater and add a fresh one.
