How to use the 3D Model Viewer widget

Show a product in 3D that visitors can spin and zoom, with color swatches that repaint parts of the model and a View in your room button for phones.

Updated October 27, 2026

The 3D Model Viewer shows a product in 3D. Visitors drag to turn it, zoom in and out, and tap color swatches to see it in other finishes. On phones and tablets that support it, View in your room places the model in the visitor's room through the camera.

How to add it

  1. Click Add, open Media, and drag 3D Model Viewer onto the page.
  2. Click Choose Model in the toolbar.
  3. Under Model (.glb), click Choose. Upload a .glb file, pick one from Library, or Paste a link.
  4. Optional: add the iPhone AR copy (.usdz) and a Poster, and write a Description for screen readers. Click Save.

Models can be up to 25 MB; under 10 MB loads fastest on phones. Uploaded models go in the site's shared media library, so everyone working on the site (and Zeus) can pick them from Library. To rename or remove one, open Media Manager, choose 3D models at the top of the site's library, and use the pencil or trash icon. Removing a model takes it out of the library; pages that already use it keep working. Files are checked when they upload, so a file that isn't really a 3D model is refused.

The poster

The poster shows until the model has loaded, and for visitors whose browser can't show 3D. After saving the model, open Choose Model again and click Use the current view as the poster to take a picture of the model as it shows on the canvas.

Design panel

  • Turning: Auto-rotate on or off, its Speed, and Pause after the visitor drags (0 to 10 seconds). Visitors who ask for less motion, and anyone who uses Pause motion, never see it turn by itself.
  • Zoom: Let visitors zoom, with the Closest and Farthest distance as a share of the starting distance.
  • Look: Shadow darkness and Shadow softness, Background (Color or Transparent to show the section behind it), Height per screen size, Corners, and the "3D · drag to rotate" hint.
  • Swatches: a Heading (for example "Color") and up to 12 swatches. Each has a color, a name, and the part it repaints. The parts are read from the model file; Every part repaints the whole model. Use the arrows to reorder. The first swatch shows when the page opens.
  • View in your room: show or hide the button and change its text. It only appears on devices that can place the model.

Good to know

  • The 3D viewer loads only when the widget comes near the screen, and only on pages that use it.
  • While you edit, the model doesn't turn under your mouse, so you can select and move the widget. Use Preview to try it.
  • iPhone and iPad use the .usdz copy for View in your room; without one they make one on the fly, which can be slower.
  • Zeus can add it when you give it the client's own .glb file. It never uses a stock model.
