How to add a client

Create a client record so you can build their site, write their content, track their SEO and invite them to the portal. Every field explained.

Updated October 22, 2026

Every website, content piece and SEO report in ContentForge belongs to a client. You can add one yourself, or let the business fill in your client onboarding form and the client is created for you.

You don't need to add your own agency: My Agency is already on your Clients list, first, for your own website, Google accounts, ads and content. Fill in its details with Getting Started → Tell us about your agency (the same onboarding form), or on its Details tab. See Clients list → My Agency.

How to add a client

  1. Go to Client Management → Clients and click Add Client.
  2. Fill in Business Name. It's the only required field.
  3. Open the other sections and add what you know. Zeus uses all of it when he writes, so more is better. Every field is explained below.
  4. Click Save Client (top or bottom of the form). You're taken back to the Clients list, where the new client's card is waiting.

Everything on the Add form can be filled in before saving, including Generation Directions. Only Integrations (webhooks) needs the client saved first: the section says "Save the client first, then add webhooks here …".

Later, change anything on Client → Details (or Client → Settings for Generation Directions) and click Save Changes.

Set up Zeus's free monthly scan

A new client's card in the Clients list, its page header and its Zeus tab show Enable free monthly scans until you set Zeus up for it.

  1. Link the client's Google accounts first if you can: Client → Details → Google Integrations (Search Console, GA4 and the Business Profile). Zeus's first scan is much more useful with them.
  2. Click Enable free monthly scans. The window checks those links (with a Connect button for each one missing, or Continue without them), then shows the client's Zeus settings.
  3. Click Save and start the first scan. It's free: the monthly scan is included in your plan. Zeus starts scanning straight away, the bell tells you when he's done, and he scans the client every month after that.

The button disappears once it's done. See How Zeus scans work. You only see it if you can use Zeus.

Business Core

  • Business Name: required, and must be new in your agency.
  • Domain: the client's website address, like example.com.
  • Business Hours and Business Days: written as you'd say them ("Mon-Fri 9am-5pm", "Monday to Friday"). They go into the site's Business Info and the opening hours in schema.
  • Primary Brand Color / Secondary Brand Color: use a hex code like #1B4FD8 for best results.
  • Primary Text Font / Secondary Text Font: font names like Roboto or Open Sans. When Zeus builds a site, he uses them for headings and body text if they're Google Fonts.
  • Company Motto or Tagline.
  • Preferred Differentiator Verbiage: the exact way the client likes to say what sets them apart ("family-owned since 1987, never subcontracted"). Zeus uses this wording before his own.
  • Business Tone: Professional / Technical, Friendly / Approachable, Premium / Luxury or Direct / No Nonsense. Sets the tone of blog content. Default Professional.
  • Year Founded: a 4-digit year. Zeus uses it for "since 2009" and years-in-business lines and never guesses one.
  • Brand Author: the owner's or author's name. Used as the author of blog posts in schema and when Zeus writes about the owner.
  • Schema Business Category: the schema.org business type, like Plumber, Dentist or RoofingContractor. Left empty, pages are marked up as a general LocalBusiness.
  • Payment Methods Accepted: like "Cash, Credit Card, Check". Goes into the site's Business Info and citation listings.
  • Awards, Certifications, or Licenses: real ones only. Zeus mentions these and never invents others.
  • Business Logo: an uploaded logo loses the empty space around it, so it fills the logo spots on the website, the portal and emails. Transparent backgrounds stay transparent. SVG logos are kept as they are.
  • Business Location Images: up to 10.

Business Messaging

The business's own words. These shape the brand voice.

  • What do you do?
  • What makes you different?
  • What are you dedicated to?: their mission, like "getting every family back in a dry home within a day".
  • What do you stand against?: practices they refuse, like "hidden call-out fees". Zeus uses it for contrast lines on pages.
  • What is the biggest benefit of working with you?

About

About the Owner, Owner Image, About Us, and Team Images (up to 10).

Social Links

Google Maps Location, Google Business Page, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube and LinkedIn. On a saved client, a line under them shows which Google Business Profile is matched, or "No Google Business Profile matched yet."

Services (up to 20)

A client can have up to 20 services. The form shows the services the client has (a new client starts with one). Click Add service for another, up to 20, and Remove service inside a service to take it off when you save; its photos stay in its media folder, never deleted. The line next to the button shows how many the client has, like "12 of 20 services". At 20 the button is replaced by "This client has the most services a client can have (20). Remove one to add another."

Each has Service Name, Service Description, Additional Keywords (comma separated) and a photo box with up to 30 photos. Service names and their additional keywords become tracked keywords automatically, and so do new ones when you add or rename a service and save (see What gets tracked). Service photos go into a media folder named after the service. See Service photo folders.

Additional Content

  • Content Plan: a place to keep the client's content plan as an image for your team. Zeus doesn't read it; the plan Zeus writes from is on Content → Strategy.
  • Service Areas: cities, counties or regions served, main town first.
  • FAQ: one question and answer after another ("Q: … A: …").
  • Additional Information: anything else Zeus should know.
  • Additional Images: up to 20.
  • Review Widget HTML: embed code for a review widget. Click Create Widget to make one from the client's Google reviews (free). Once there's one, Edit Widget and Recreate Widget appear. The widget's reviews refresh by themselves about once a month. For reviews on a Mount Olympus site, the Google Reviews widget is usually easier.

Business extras

Business extras hold the facts Zeus never makes up. When a website has the matching widget, Zeus fills it from here: Create with Zeus, Fill with Zeus, and Zeus in the editor ("fill the menu from the client's menu"). Anything left empty stays as the template has it and is flagged for you to check before publishing.

  • Current offer / promotion: Offer headline (like "15% off your first service"), Details, Terms, Start date, Expiry date, an optional Coupon code and Active. Fills Coupons, and the countdown offer when it has an expiry date. An offer that's switched off, not started or expired isn't used.
  • Price list / plans: each plan's name, price (shown exactly as you type it, like "$49"), period (one-off, per hour, per month, per year or your own words like "per visit"), a short description and its features (one per line). Up to 12 plans. Fills Pricing Cards and Plan Comparison.
  • Menu: categories, each with dishes: name, description, price and dietary tags (like "Vegan, GF"). Up to 20 categories and 60 dishes each. Fills the Restaurant Menu.
  • OpenTable restaurant ID: the rid number in the client's OpenTable link. Connects the OpenTable button.
  • Google Calendar public calendar ID: from Google Calendar → Settings → Integrate calendar (the calendar must be public). Connects the Google Calendar widget.
  • Events: title, start, end, location, description and a link. Up to 50. Fills the Events widget; past events hide themselves on the site.
  • RSS feed URL: connects the RSS Feed widget.

Use Add, the arrows and the bin to add, reorder and remove plans, dishes and events. Business extras aren't on the onboarding form and clients don't see them in the portal.

Contact Information

Phone, Email, Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, Country (used in the address in schema; empty counts as US) and Website.

Tick Service-area business (hide street address) when no storefront customers visit and the address is only for registration. Zeus then uses the client's service areas instead: the first service area is the main town for map scans, website text, meta titles and Google posts, and the address never shows on the website or in schema. A new website starts with it hidden in Business Info.

Generation Directions

Rules Zeus follows every time he writes or makes images for this client. On a saved client they're on Client → Settings → Generation Directions, saved with Save Changes.

  • Directions for Images: what every image Zeus makes for this client must follow. For example: "No people in images. Use outdoor settings only. Avoid dark backgrounds."
  • Directions for Text: hard rules for every page, blog and post. For example: "Never use the word 'cheap'. Always refer to the owner by first name. Use a friendly, conversational tone."

More examples: "Always say 'Greater Tampa Bay', never 'Tampa area'." "Show trucks in the company's blue." "Don't mention prices." Keep each rule short and specific.

Integrations

The client's webhooks: send every Contact Form submission on their Mount Olympus sites to GoHighLevel, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own app.

  1. In GoHighLevel, create a workflow with an Inbound Webhook trigger and copy its URL.
  2. On Client → Settings, open Integrations and click Add webhook.
  3. Under Sending to, pick GoHighLevel, paste the URL (it must start with https://) and click Add webhook.
  4. Click Send test. A sample submission arrives in GoHighLevel.

It's saved straight away; you don't need Save Changes. Switch off or Delete stops sending. Submissions are always saved in Form Responses first, so a webhook problem never loses a lead. See Send events to other apps with webhooks.

Status

Active by default. Switch to Inactive to hide the client from the content generator's client lists without deleting anything.

Examples

  • A roofer: Business Name "Peak Roofing", Schema Business Category "RoofingContractor", Service 1 "Roof Replacement" with 20 job photos, Service Areas "Denver, Aurora, Lakewood". Zeus's service page uses the real photos and names Denver first.
  • A café: fill Menu in Business extras and the OpenTable restaurant ID. A template's Restaurant Menu and OpenTable button fill themselves when Zeus builds the site.
  • A brand with strict wording: Directions for Text "Always 'Dr. Patel', never 'Priya'. Never promise pain-free treatment." Every page and post follows it.

Limits and what it can't do

  • How many clients: Starter includes up to 10 clients. Growth and Agency have no limit. Your My Agency client doesn't count. The Clients page shows how many you've used, like "8 of 10 clients". At the limit, adding a client says "Starter includes up to 10 clients. Upgrade to Growth to add more." with an Upgrade link. Nothing is removed if you have more than that already (for example after moving down to Starter); you just can't add another until you're under the limit or upgrade.
  • My Agency is built in: you can't add a second one, and it can't be deleted.
  • Two clients can't have the same business name in your agency.
  • Images: PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB each. Business Location Images and Team Images 10 each, Additional Images 20, each service 30. You can also paste an image URL ("Or enter image URL...").
  • 20 services at most.
  • Webhooks can only be added once the client is saved.
  • To remove a client, see Clients list → delete. Their websites go to Recently deleted for 30 days; the client's own data is removed.

Who can use it

Anyone on your team with the Clients tool. A team member limited to some clients only sees the clients assigned to them. A client they add is assigned to them automatically; an Owner or Admin assigns it to anyone else in Settings → Team Members. Clients can't add or edit these details themselves, apart from what they send on the onboarding form.

Troubleshooting

  • "Business name is required": fill in Business Name.
  • "Starter includes up to 10 clients. Upgrade to Growth to add more.": your plan's client limit is reached (My Agency doesn't count). The Add Client page says so before you fill in the form. Click Upgrade (Billing & credits) to move to Growth or Agency, or delete a client you no longer work with.
  • "A client with this business name already exists": you already have a client with that exact name. Search the Clients list, or add something to tell them apart, like "Smith Plumbing (Austin)".
  • "Invalid file type. Please use PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP.": convert the image (HEIC phone photos included) to JPEG first, or use the client's upload link, which accepts HEIC.
  • "File too large. Maximum size is 5MB.": shrink the image, or send it through the upload link (10 MB).
  • "Maximum 10 images allowed. You can add 3 more.": that box is full. Remove some, or put extra photos in Additional Images or Client → Media.
  • Something in Business extras won't save: Save Changes tells you what to fix, like "Price list: plan 2 needs a name and a price" or "OpenTable restaurant ID: numbers only (the rid in your OpenTable link)".
  • "Failed to create client: …": nothing was saved. Try again; if it repeats, contact support with the message.
