Every client gets a brand voice that Zeus builds for them. Every page, blog, meta description, Google Business Profile post and social post Zeus writes for the client uses it. It's what makes a plumber's pages sound like that plumber, not like every other plumber.
Where to find it
Open the client's Client → Details tab and scroll down past the form to Brand voice. The card says when it was last built ("Last built …"). Once it's built you'll see:
- Voice traits: how the business comes across.
- Phrases they use: wording that's typical for them.
- Phrases to avoid: wording that doesn't fit.
- Sounds like: a few example sentences.
Click Show what Zeus sends to the writers to see the full profile.
What Zeus builds it from
- The client's answers: What do you do?, What makes you different?, About Us, About the Owner, Year Founded and the rest of Client → Details.
- Their website copy and a few real Google reviews.
- The Directions for Text in Generation Directions, which Zeus follows strictly.
- Your agency's writing rules.
Zeus also keeps track of facts the business hasn't given you. He never invents prices, awards, years, reviews or guarantees; he writes around anything that's missing.
When it's built
- Automatically after the client submits your onboarding form.
- The first time Zeus writes for the client, if there's no voice yet.
- Whenever you click Refresh voice. Do this after you've added or changed the client's answers.
Building and refreshing the voice is free.
Changing the voice
You don't edit the voice directly. To change it, update the client's details and click Refresh voice:
- Put strict rules in Client → Settings → Generation Directions → Directions for Text, like "always call the owner Mike".
- Choose a Business Tone in Business Core. It sets the tone of blog content.
- Add more of the business's own words in Business Messaging and About.
If Zeus says there isn't enough of the business's own writing yet, fill in the onboarding answers and refresh.
Examples
- A family bakery: their About Us says "we've been up at 4am every day since 1992". Zeus picks up the warm, early-morning tone and "since 1992", and avoids corporate words like "solutions".
- A no-nonsense contractor: Business Tone Direct / No Nonsense, plus Directions for Text "Never say 'passionate'". The voice comes out short and plain, and that word never appears.
- After a rebrand: the client sends a new tagline and About Us. Update Client → Details, click Save Changes, then Refresh voice.
Limits and what it can't do
- You can't type into the voice or edit its traits. Change the client's answers and refresh.
- It needs some of the business's own writing. A client with only a name and phone number won't get a voice yet.
- Refreshing is limited to 20 a minute and 300 a day across your agency.
- It doesn't change pages Zeus already wrote. Regenerate those if you want them in the new voice.
Credits
Building and refreshing the voice is free. It's included in every piece Zeus writes.
Who can use it
Anyone on your team with the Clients tool can see and refresh it. Clients don't see it in the portal.
Troubleshooting
- "Zeus hasn't built this client's voice yet.": it's built after onboarding or the first time Zeus writes for them. Click Refresh voice to build it now.
- "Not enough of the business's own writing yet for Zeus to learn its voice …": fill in What makes you different?, About Us and the other Business Messaging answers, Save Changes, then Refresh voice.
- "Zeus could not build the voice right now": try again in a minute.
- "You're going too fast — try again in …": you hit the refresh limit. Wait and try again.
- Pages still sound generic: check you clicked Save Changes before Refresh voice, and add more of the business's own words. Strict rules belong in Directions for Text.
