Settings → Blog Writing Rules controls how Zeus writes blog content for every client in your agency. The page says where it applies: "Used everywhere Zeus writes blog posts, titles and blog meta tags". That covers blog articles from the Content Generator, blog ideas and titles, blog SEO titles and descriptions, Zeus chat, and the starter posts Zeus writes when he builds or fills a site. He follows these rules on top of each client's own brand voice and Directions for Text. Website pages have their own rules in ContentForge Writing.
How to change the rules
- Go to Settings → Blog Writing Rules.
- Pick a section on the left and make your changes.
- Click Save at the top. "Saved" shows for a moment.
Critical Rules
A numbered list of rules Zeus must follow in every article. Type in Add a new rule... and click +, or remove a rule with its ×. The defaults are:
- Output format: Meta Title, Meta Description and the article body only.
- No markdown in copy.
- HTML links only.
- No labels like "Answer:" or "Structure:" in the text.
- Don't invent facts: no made-up pricing, timelines, license numbers, brands, certifications or awards.
- No competitor names.
Banned Terms
- Banned words: by default revolutionary, life-changing, expert and professional.
- Banned phrases: by default "Studies show", "Research indicates", "Data shows" and "We pride ourselves".
Type a word or phrase and click + to add it. Click the × on a chip to remove it.
Writing Register
- Tone: Professional (the default), Friendly, Premium or Direct.
- Custom tone description: describe the voice in your own words.
- Person: Second person (You/Your) (the default), First person (I/We) or Third person.
- Use contractions: on by default.
Input Data
Which parts of the client's profile Zeus reads before writing. All are on by default: Business name, Service names, Service descriptions, Service areas, About the owner, What makes them different, What they stand against and Credentials & certifications. Add Additional context instructions in your own words.
Linking
- Enable internal linking: on by default.
- Maximum links per article: 2 by default.
- Link to service page and Link to company website: both on by default.
- Anchor text rules: by default "Use target keyword as anchor for service page link. Use a different keyword for website link."
SEO & Structure
- Minimum word count: 1,300 by default.
- Minimum H2 sections: 4 by default.
- Keyword density: Natural (the default), 1-2% or 2-3%.
- Pre/post stat validation: on by default. Zeus only uses statistics he can credit to a named, real source, and leaves other numbers out.
Return to Default
Return to Default resets only the section you're on. You're asked "Reset this section to defaults?" first. Click Save afterwards to keep it.
Examples of good rules
- "Always end with a short paragraph inviting readers to call for a free estimate."
- "Mention the client's warranty when the article is about installation."
- "Write for homeowners, not trade professionals. Explain any technical term."
- Banned word: "cheap" (for a premium brand).
Limits and what it can't do
- The rules apply to new articles only. Articles already written don't change. Use Regenerate with Changes to rewrite one.
- Facts always win over style. Zeus won't make up prices, statistics or quotes to meet a rule.
- One set of rules covers the whole agency. For one client only, use that client's Directions for Text (Client → Settings → Generation Directions).
- There's no Refine with Zeus box on this page. That's only on ContentForge Writing.
Who can use it
The agency owner and admins (it's under Settings). Changing the rules is free.
Troubleshooting
- "Failed to save": your changes weren't kept. Check your connection and click Save again.
- My change didn't take effect: you may have left the page without clicking Save. Reopen the section and check.
- Zeus still used a banned word: check it's in Banned words exactly as written, and that the client's own Directions for Text don't ask for it.
- The Content Generator strip says "Blog writing rules off": your agency hasn't saved its own rules yet, so Zeus uses the defaults.
