Websites in the sidebar lists your clients' Mount Olympus sites as cards, newest first. Start here to build a new site, open one in the editor, make a copy, or clean up old ones.
How to open a site
- Click Websites in the sidebar.
- Find the site. Type in the search box or click a status filter.
- Click Enter Mount Olympus on its card. The editor opens.
How to start a new site
Click New site at the top right. The menu shows:
- Blank: an empty site for a client. See How to create a blank site.
- From template: start from a full-site template. See How to create a site from a template.
- Create with Zeus: describe the site and Zeus designs and builds it. See Create with Zeus.
- Restore from backup: agency owners and admins only. A ContentForge backup file becomes a new draft site. See How to restore a site from a backup file.
To bring in a site that already exists, click Import:
- Import a site: enter the client's website address. Zeus rebuilds every page as a Mount Olympus site. See Import an existing site.
- Import a design: a design file, or design images or a PDF. See Import a design.
Every new site starts as a draft.
Search and filter
- Search by site, client or domain…: matches the site name, the client's business name, the custom domain or the preview address. Click the x to clear it.
- All / Draft / Published: filter by status. There's no Archived filter: sites aren't archived any more. A deleted site goes to Recently deleted for 30 days.
- The search and filter stay in the page address, so a refresh or a shared link keeps them.
- The line above the cards shows how many sites there are, or "Showing X of Y" while you filter.
- If nothing matches, click Clear filters.
What a card shows
- A thumbnail of the homepage. It's taken when the site is created, imported or published. While a site is a draft, it's refreshed at most every 30 minutes after you save. Until the first one, the card shows the Mount Olympus placeholder.
- The site name, created date and a status badge: Draft or Published.
- The client's business name and the site's address: the custom domain, or the preview address.
- An HTTPS warning (orange chip) when a live domain stopped loading securely in the daily check. It names the domain and the likely cause. Point at it for the full reason and fix, or click it to open the site. See Connect a domain.
Card buttons
Point at an icon button, or Tab to it, to see its name.
- Enter Mount Olympus: opens the site in the editor.
- Preview (eye): opens the latest draft in a new tab, unpublished changes included, on your client domain if you've connected one. The live site is at its published address.
- Duplicate site (copy): makes a new draft copy. See Duplicate a site below.
- Save as template (template icon): saves the whole site as a reusable template. Owners and admins only; for others it's grayed out. See Save a site as a template.
- Refresh thumbnail (image): takes a new homepage screenshot now.
- Form responses (inbox): what visitors sent through the site's forms. See Contact forms and form responses.
- Delete site (red bin): asks "Delete this site? It moves to Recently deleted, where an owner or admin can restore it for 30 days. Its address and domains stop working right away." Click OK to delete. See How to restore a deleted site.
Recently deleted in the header jumps to the Recently deleted list at the bottom of the page. It shows a count, and it's grayed out when there's nothing to restore.
Duplicate a site
- On the site's card, click Duplicate site. In the editor, it's also under Settings → Duplicate site.
- Under Client, keep the site's own client (marked "this site's client") or pick another. Click New client to make one by name.
- Change the Site name if you like. It starts as the site's name with "(copy)" after it.
- Click Duplicate. The copy appears at the top of the list as a Draft. Open it with Enter Mount Olympus.
What's copied: every page (dynamic pages, folders, popups, the 404 page and blog layouts too), all sections, the header and footer, design and fonts, site settings and custom code, collections and their items, blog posts and authors, redirects, and forms. Blog posts come across as drafts. Other languages come too: the languages in Settings → Languages, every translation, and each post's language versions.
What stays with the original: domains, the live version, backups, visitor stats, form responses, comments, share-preview links, accessibility results and import history. Analytics and verification IDs aren't copied. The copy gets its own preview address and isn't live until you publish it. Images use the same files, so nothing is uploaded twice.
For another client: the copy's Business Info (name, phone, email, address, hours, social links and logo) becomes the new client's. The old business's name, phone, email and street are swapped for the new client's wherever they appear in page text, in every language. Translations of text that became the new client's own (like the tagline) are left out, so they show as still to translate. Custom logos switch to the client's Business Info logo. The forms' notification address and connections (Google Sheets, HubSpot, Mailchimp) are cleared, so messages can't reach the old client. The design stays the same.
Examples
- A second location: a dental practice opens a new office with its own client record. Duplicate the first office's site, pick the new client, and the phone, address and logo switch over.
- Try a redesign safely: duplicate a live site for the same client, name it "Spring redesign", and work on the copy. The live site doesn't change.
- Find one site fast: type part of the domain, like "smithplumbing", to jump to it among 80 cards.
- Tidy up: delete a test site. If you change your mind, an owner or admin brings it back from Recently deleted within 30 days.
Limits and what it can't do
- You can't rename a site or move it to another client here. Duplicate it with the new name or client, then delete the old one.
- Template sites never show here. Find them in the template step of New site → From template, or in Custom Assets → Templates.
- Deleted sites aren't in the grid. They're only in Recently deleted.
- Import takes a website address only.
Credits
Making, duplicating and deleting sites is free, and there's no cap on how many draft sites you have. A site is billed as a hosted site when you first publish it. See Plans and hosted sites. Zeus features (Create with Zeus, Import a site, Import a design) cost credits; their articles explain.
Who can use it
- You need the Mount Olympus tool to see this page, create, duplicate and delete sites.
- A team member limited to some clients only sees those clients' sites, and can only duplicate into those clients.
- Only agency owners and admins see Restore from backup, can Save as template, and can restore from Recently deleted.
- Client people don't use this page. They reach their site through the client portal.
Troubleshooting
- "Give the copy a name": the Site name box in Duplicate site is empty. Type a name.
- "Choose a client": pick a client for the copy before clicking Duplicate.
- "Couldn't duplicate the site — nothing was created. Try again.": something failed partway. Nothing was made, so just try again.
- The thumbnail is old: on a draft it updates at most every 30 minutes after a save. Click Refresh thumbnail to take one now. "The thumbnail is already being updated. Refresh in a minute." means one is already being taken.
- "Couldn't load your sites. Check your connection and refresh.": the list didn't load. Check your connection and reload the page.
- I can't find a site: set the status filter to All, clear the search, and look in Recently deleted. A team member limited to some clients won't see other clients' sites.
- Recently deleted is grayed out: nothing was deleted in the last 30 days, or you're not an owner or admin (only they see the list).
- Restore from backup isn't in the menu: it's only for agency owners and admins.
