Edicts, decrees and omens explained

How Zeus scores and groups his findings, what each card and finding type means, how to mark them In Progress, Executed or Defied, and the free Generate FAQ button.

Updated October 15, 2026

Every finding Zeus makes lands on the client's Zeus tab in one of three groups:

  • Edicts: act on these first. They are the biggest wins or the most urgent problems.
  • Decrees: worth doing soon.
  • Omens: smaller opportunities and early warnings.

How to work through a client's findings

  1. Open the client and go to Zeus.
  2. Pick a status tab: New, In Progress, Executed or Defied (each shows its count).
  3. Narrow the list with All Priorities (Edict, Decree, Omen) and All Types (see the glossary below).
  4. Open a card, read the steps and use its button (for example Write it for me or Generate FAQ).
  5. Tick each step as you do it, then click Executed when the work is finished.

How Zeus scores findings

Each card shows Zeus's Score: estimated impact × confidence ÷ effort. The group comes from the score:

  • Edict: a score of 20 or more, and only the top 3. If a fourth finding scores 20+, it becomes a Decree.
  • Decree: a score of 8 or more.
  • Omen: anything lower.

Within each group, cards are sorted by score. Some findings have a fixed group set by their own rules instead of the score (still at most 3 Edicts). Internal link findings work like this (see internal links):

  • Edicts: links to pages that don't exist, service area pages nothing links to, and pages with far too many links that also use spammy or generic anchors.
  • Decrees: links to redirected, unpublished or hidden pages, pages well over their link guideline, generic anchors, blog posts that mention a service without linking it, and new pages still unlinked after 30 days.
  • Omens: pages just over their link guideline, too many About links, a homepage with too many text links, area pages linking to each other, and new pages unlinked after 7 days.

A Weather Alert always arrives as an Edict, between scans, as soon as the warning is issued.

What a card shows

  • A title and a type label (for example "Map Rank Drop", "Missing Page", "GBP Photos" or "Google Ads")
  • What Zeus found
  • Action items: a checklist of 1 to 5 steps, most important first (see below)
  • Why it matters and the Expected result
  • How Zeus measures it: the number Zeus checks at 30, 60 and 90 days after you mark the card Executed, for example the map pack's top-3 coverage for a keyword, or Google Business Profile calls and clicks
  • Evidence: click to see the signals behind the finding, each with its own score and effort (quick fix, some work, bigger project), and any comparison table
  • An action button when there's a next step, such as a link to the right page or tool

Action items

Every Edict, Decree and Omen comes with the steps to get the result, never just the goal. Each step shows:

  • What to do, naming the exact category, page, town, directory or number
  • Why: the evidence behind it, such as "23 reviews vs Summit Roofing 140"
  • Where: a link to the place in ContentForge to do it (the Google Business Profile editor, Citations, Social, Content Generator, Internal Links, the site editor and so on), or Outside ContentForge with what to do there, for example asking customers for reviews or adding photos in the Google Business Profile app

Tick a step when it's done. The ticks are saved on the card and the counter shows how many are done. Ticking steps doesn't change the card's status: click Executed when the work is finished.

Zeus only suggests what his data supports. When he's missing something he needs, the step tells you what to connect, for example "Set the Google Business Profile link so Zeus can compare categories, photos, posts and hours".

Example: win more of the map pack

For a map pack finding, Zeus looks at where on the map the business is outside the top 3 (for example "outside the top 3 at 16 of 25 points, mostly north and north-east"), which businesses hold the top 3 there, and how their profiles compare with the client's. The steps can include:

  • the Google Business Profile categories they use and the client doesn't. A profile has one primary category, so Zeus decides it once for the client from the businesses winning the client's most valuable searches. Every keyword uses that same choice, and he suggests changing the primary only when the current one is wrong. Other categories are suggested as additional categories (up to 9), each only once
  • towns to add to the profile's service areas, and missing opening hours
  • how many reviews it takes to reach the businesses beating the client, and a monthly target
  • directory listings to fix or build, with each one's submission kit
  • a service page or service-area page to build when the live site doesn't have one (or the existing page to improve), and a link to add from the home page
  • posting on the profile every week, and adding real photos

The evidence includes a table comparing the client with those businesses: top-3 points, reviews, rating, main category, photos and posts.

Finding types (the All Types filter)

The type label on each card, grouped by what it's about:

  • Map pack: Map Rank Drop (the client fell in the map pack), Map Competitor (a competitor outranks them on the map; "Win more of the map pack").
  • Business Profile: Business Profile (not claimed or not found), GBP Category (primary category), GBP Categories (additional categories competitors use), GBP Services, GBP Description, GBP Photos, GBP Hours, GBP Details (name, phone or address differ), GBP Name (keyword stuffing in the client's name), Competitor Spam (a competitor stuffs keywords in their name), GBP Attributes, GBP Posts (no recent posts), GBP Actions (calls, clicks or directions dropping).
  • Reviews: Reviews (count gap with the top 3), Rating, Fresh Reviews (no recent reviews), Review Pace, Rating Trend, Review Replies (unanswered reviews), Review Keywords (services customers don't mention), Reviews per Lead.
  • Directory listings: Missing Citation (a major directory is missing), Citation Gap (directories competitors use), NAP Issue (details differ on a listing), Listing Stuck (a listing you submitted that hasn't gone live, or needs finishing).
  • Pages and content: Missing Page, Improve Page (a close page exists), Area Page, Service + Town, Duplicate Areas (near-copy town pages), Keyword Gap (keywords on page 2 to 3), New Keyword (keywords the client doesn't rank for), Competitor Gap, Ranking Gap, Competitor Passed You, Orphan Page, Trust Signals (license, insurance and similar), Page Speed, Publish (fixes waiting in the site's draft, not yet published).
  • Search Console: GSC Keyword, GSC Position, Near Top 3, Page Near Top 3, Low CTR, Untargeted Query, Competing Pages (two pages fight for one search), Page Decline, New Searches, No Clicks.
  • Traffic and leads (GA4 and forms): Traffic Drop, Conversion Drop, No Conversions, High Converter, Top Cities, No Leads (a page with visits but no leads).
  • Schema and AI search: Missing Schema, Schema Issue, FAQ Gap, AI Overview (a search where an FAQ could get the client into Google's AI Overview), AI Assistants (AI assistants don't name the client, or the sites AI answers cite don't list the client), Entity Check (name, phone, town, website or profiles differ between places).
  • Backlinks: Lost Links, Link Growth (links not growing).
  • Internal links: Broken Links, Links That Go Nowhere (redirected, unpublished or hidden pages), New Pages (unlinked new pages), Anchor Mix (the same exact anchor overused), and other link checks labeled Internal Links.
  • Competitor watch: New Competitor (a new business in the top 3), Competitor Watch (a competitor changed categories, got a burst of reviews, changed rating, added photos, started posting or changed their website).
  • Timing: Season Ahead (demand rises in 4 to 6 weeks), Weather Alert (severe weather in the client's area).
  • Other: Site Audit (checks from the site audit), Google Ads (findings from Zeus Ads Review), Grouped (several small related findings on one card).

Edicts Zeus can write for you

When an Edict is about missing content (a blog post, a service page or a service area page), its button (usually Write it for me) opens the Content Generator already filled in:

  • the client
  • the content type: Blog Article for a blog post, or Website Copy with Individual Service Page or Service Area Page for a page
  • the keyword from the Edict (blog posts), and the service and service area when the Edict names them
  • a short instruction saying which finding the post is for

A note at the top of the form shows the Edict it came from, and the strip above Forge This Content shows "Writing in {client}'s voice · Blog writing rules on". Zeus writes the post live in the preview. The generated content stays tied to the Edict:

  • Generated: the Edict moves to In Progress.
  • Published: when the blog post goes live on the client's Mount Olympus site (Send to Website → Publish, or publishing the draft later in Blog), the Edict is marked Executed and Zeus starts measuring the result. A service or service area page counts once it's sent to the client's site, because pages go live when the site is published.

If you change the client or the content type on the form, the content no longer counts toward the Edict.

Generate FAQ (free)

AI Overview findings have a Generate FAQ button. It writes question-and-answer pairs aimed at the search in the finding, in about 5 to 10 seconds. The window has three tabs:

  • FAQ Q&A: each pair with its own copy button, and Copy All Q&A.
  • JSON-LD Schema: the FAQ markup for the page, with Copy Schema.
  • How to Implement: numbered steps, with Copy Instructions.

It shows the target page when the finding names one. Click Regenerate for a new set, or Done to close. Generate FAQ is free. To add an FAQ straight to a Mount Olympus page, use Add FAQ for me on the client's SEO → Schema tab (also free). Add link for me on SEO → Links adds internal links the same way.

Track your progress

Each card has three buttons:

  • In Progress: you're working on it.
  • Executed: it's done. It moves to the Executed list, appears under Work done this period and in the client's portal, and Zeus starts measuring the result at 30, 60 and 90 days. Zeus's own checks (map scan, statistics, audits and so on) are added to work done automatically too.
  • Defy: you've decided not to do it. Zeus asks "Why? Zeus learns from it:" with one click: Not relevant, Already done, Client won't do it or Wrong data. Or press Skip (no reason) or Cancel. It then moves to Defied, which shows the reason you chose. A kind of finding your agency keeps defying for similar clients is ranked lower, but an urgent one (a big ranking drop, a Business Profile problem, the site blocked from search) never is. Wrong data sends the finding to the ContentForge team to check. See What Zeus does for your clients.

To undo, open the card on its status tab and click a different status.

When a new scan runs

Zeus doesn't repeat what you've already handled. Findings you marked In Progress or Executed aren't raised again while Zeus is measuring them. A defied finding stays quiet for 90 days unless the problem gets worse.

Examples

  • A plumber with a Map Competitor Edict: the steps say add "Water heater installation" as a category, add Petaluma to service areas and get 12 more reviews. You tick each step as you go, then click Executed. At 30, 60 and 90 days Zeus checks top-3 coverage for the plumber's keywords.
  • A Missing Page Edict for "roof repair Santa Rosa": click Write it for me, Zeus writes the service area page, you send it to the site, and the Edict is marked Executed.
  • An AI Overview Omen: click Generate FAQ, copy the Q&A and schema, and add them to the page.
  • A finding that doesn't fit: a "GBP Hours" Decree for a business that's by appointment only. Click Defy → Not relevant.

Limits and what it can't do

  • At most 3 Edicts per client from each scan (a Weather Alert can add one between scans).
  • 1 to 5 action items per card.
  • Ticking steps doesn't mark a card Executed; you click Executed yourself.
  • Generate FAQ gives you text to copy. It doesn't change any page.
  • Generate FAQ is limited to 20 a minute and 300 a day per agency.
  • Write it for me only appears on content Edicts (blog posts, service pages, service area pages).

Credits

Findings, steps, status buttons, Generate FAQ, Add FAQ for me and Add link for me are free. Write it for me uses the Content Generator's normal prices: content generation per page or post, and a revision when you ask Zeus to change it. Prices show on the buttons.

Who can use it

Anyone on your agency team with the Clients tool can read findings, change their status, tick steps and use Generate FAQ. Write it for me also needs the Content Generator tool. Client people never see findings.

Troubleshooting

  • "You're going too fast — try again in …" on Generate FAQ: your agency hit the limit. Wait the time shown.
  • "FAQ generation failed" or "Failed to connect to the server": click Try Again in the window.
  • "keyword is required": the finding has no search to write for. Defy it or use the Schema tab instead.
  • A card I executed came back: it didn't. Executed findings stay quiet while Zeus measures them. A new card on the same topic means the problem got worse or is about a different page or keyword.
  • I see "No recommendations match your filters": clear All Priorities and All Types, or switch status tab.
  • An Edict I wrote content for is still In Progress: it's marked Executed only when the blog post goes live, or the page is sent to the client's site. Publish it, or click Executed yourself.
  • "Listing Stuck": a directory listing you started hasn't gone live. Open Local → Citations to finish or re-check it.
