How AI Visibility works

See how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention a client. It checks automatically every 14 days for clients hosted with you, at no charge.

Updated October 15, 2026

AI Visibility shows whether AI assistants mention your client when customers ask about their services. Use it to show a client where they stand in AI search, and to see which competitors get recommended instead. It's included with hosting, so there's no charge.

How to turn it on

  1. Open the client and go to SEO → AI Visibility.
  2. Tick Automatic AI Visibility checks.

The first check runs right away ("First check running — results in about a minute."), unless one ran in the last 14 days. After that it checks automatically every 14 days, and the next check date shows under the switch. You can't run a check by hand.

The same switch is in the Mount Olympus Site Dashboard under AI Visibility. Untick it to stop the checks; past results stay.

What it checks

  • The client has 10 customer questions built from their services, towns and category. Each check asks 5 of them, alternating, so every question is asked once a month.
  • The questions go to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, using the business name, category and city from Business Info plus the tracked keywords.
  • The Google AI Overviews score comes from the client's tracked keywords: of the keywords where Google shows an AI Overview, how many cite the client. It updates with each rank check (see Track a client's keyword rankings).

A check is only scored once every assistant has answered every question. Assistants that search the web can be slow, so each answer gets several tries. If some answers still don't come back, the answers it did get are kept and the next hourly run asks just the missing ones. The new score appears once the check is complete.

Reading the results

  • AI visibility score (a percentage) and its Trend over time.
  • Each assistant's own score, such as "Mentioned in 3 of 5 answers", or "Mentioned in 2 of 6 AI Overviews". Couldn't check means that assistant gave no answers this time.
  • Recommended instead: businesses and sites the assistants named or cited in these answers in place of the client.
  • Why a competitor was named: what the cited sources tell you to fix.
  • Each question over time: which assistants mentioned the client for each question, check by check.
  • Mentions across AI answers: each answer marked Mentioned + cited, Mentioned or Not mentioned.

Zeus turns gaps into findings on the client's Zeus tab. The client portal can show AI Visibility too, depending on its settings.

Examples

  • A dentist scoring 20%: Recommended instead names two practices and a directory site. Why a competitor was named shows they're cited from a "best dentists in town" list the client isn't on, so you get the client added.
  • Proving progress: after adding FAQ answers and fixing citations, the Trend line shows the score climbing check by check. Screenshot it for the monthly report.
  • A new site: turn checks on the day it's published, so you have a starting score to compare against.

Limits and what it can't do

  • Only for clients whose website is a published Mount Olympus site hosted with you. If the site stops being published, checks pause and past results stay visible.
  • No manual checks. It runs every 14 days.
  • 10 questions per client, 5 per check. You can't write your own questions.
  • Client portal people and client logins can view the results but can't switch checks on or off.

Credits

Free. AI Visibility is included with hosting and never costs credits.

Who can use it

Agency team members with the Clients tool can see it and switch it on or off. Members limited to some clients only see those clients. Client people can view it in the Site Dashboard and, if the portal shows it, in the portal. See SEO tools overview.

Troubleshooting

  • There's no switch, just "Available for clients whose website is hosted with you": the client has no published Mount Olympus site. Publish their site first.
  • "Automatic checks are paused: the website isn't published on your hosting.": the site was unpublished. Publish it again and checks carry on.
  • "Automatic AI Visibility is only available for clients whose website is hosted with you (a published site).": same cause. Publish the site.
  • "Automatic checks are off.": tick Automatic AI Visibility checks.
  • "No answers came back.": the assistants didn't answer this time. The next hourly run asks the missing questions again; give it a few hours.
  • "A check for this client is already running.": wait for it to finish.
  • I turned it on but nothing ran: a check already ran in the last 14 days. The next one runs on the date shown under the switch.
  • No Google AI Overviews score: none of the client's tracked keywords show an AI Overview yet, or rankings haven't been checked. Add keywords and click Track Rankings.
  • "Tool access required": you need the Clients tool. Ask an Owner or Admin.
