Abandoned carts, back in stock and other store automations

Store triggers and the five built-in templates: abandoned cart, back in stock, thank you after delivery, win back lapsed buyers, first-order welcome.

Updated October 28, 2026

Automations have a Store group of triggers: order placed (filter by total, products, categories, site, first order, discount used), paid, fulfilled, shipped, delivered, refunded, canceled, cart abandoned and back in stock.

  • Cart abandoned fires once per cart: it has an email and items, no order, and nothing has happened for an hour. A purchase stops the sequence.
  • Back in stock fires for each person who asked to be told about a sold-out size.
  • The Create a discount code step makes a one-use code for the contact ({{discount.code}}).
  • Their purchases conditions (if/else, filters, waits, goals, stop when): has bought or never bought anything, a product, a variant, or something from a category or collection — at any time, in the last N days or between two dates, and at least N times — plus order count, total spent, last order and an open abandoned cart. They use the same rules as the Contacts Purchases filters, so a smart list and an automation always agree on who bought what.

Templates

Automations → Templates: Abandoned cart (an email after 1 hour with a "Back to your cart" link that restores the cart, another after 24 hours with an optional code), Back in stock, Thank you + review request after delivery, Win back lapsed buyers, First-order welcome.

These are marketing emails: they carry the unsubscribe link, go only from the business's own verified sending domain, respect the do-not-email list, and count as usual. Order emails (confirmation, shipped…) are free.
