The legal pages generator writes three pages in plain English from the client's real details: business name, address, email, phone and services. It also uses what the site actually does: forms and what they ask for, analytics and pixels, the cookie banner, videos, maps, booking and payment tools, chat widgets and other embeds. Nothing is made up. If a detail is missing, the page words around it, and the panel tells you what to add to Business Info.
This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review the pages before they go live. This note shows only in the panel, never on the site.
How to add one page from the Pages panel
- In the editor, open Pages and click Add page → Legal Page. The Add a legal page window opens.
- Under Page, choose Privacy Policy, Terms of Service or Cookie Policy.
- Choose Where the business and its visitors are. For United States, you can turn on Add the California privacy notice (CCPA / CPRA).
- Agency people can turn on Polish the wording with Zeus, in the client’s voice (free).
- Click Create page. The page is made as a draft, hidden from the menu, and opens in the editor so you can review it.
- When it's ready, click Set live & add to footer. The page goes live with the next publish and is linked in the footer's legal links. Click Done to close.
If that page already exists, the window says Already made: /privacy · draft (or live) and the button reads Update & open, which brings it up to date and keeps your edits. If a page you didn't make already uses the address, tick Replace its content first; the address stays the same.
You can also ask Zeus in the editor, for example "add a privacy policy page". Zeus shows a confirm card first. It's free.
How to create all three at once
- Open the Site Dashboard's Cookies & Legal, or Settings → Privacy in the editor and scroll to Legal pages.
- Open What we found on this site to check what the pages will mention.
- Choose Where the business and its visitors are:
- United States: optionally turn on Add the California privacy notice (CCPA / CPRA) — for businesses that serve California.
- EU or UK (GDPR): adds who is responsible for the information, the legal reasons for using it, visitors' rights, the right to complain to a data protection authority, and international transfers.
- Under Pages, tick the ones you want: Privacy Policy (/privacy), Terms of Service (/terms), Cookie Policy (/cookie-policy).
- Optional: turn on Polish the wording with Zeus, in the client’s voice. Every rewrite is checked: if Zeus changed a fact, a link, a name or a number, that section keeps the template wording. Zeus polishes a few sections at a time, so long pages (like a Privacy Policy with the California notice) work too. If Zeus can't polish a page at all, the page is still created from the template.
- Click Create pages. You see, for example, 3 pages created as drafts. Review them in the editor, then set them live.
- Click Open in editor under each page to review and edit it.
- When a page is ready, click Set live & link in footer. It goes live with the next publish and a link is added to the footer's legal links.
- Publish the site.
If the footer has no legal links yet, Add a legal links row to the footer when a page is set live (your footer doesn’t have one) is on and adds a small centered row. Turn it off to add the links yourself. A page that's live but not in the footer has an Add to footer button.
What each page's status means
Under each page name in Pages:
- Not created yet: no page yet.
- /privacy · Draft — not on the live site: made, waiting for your review.
- /privacy · Live (with the next publish): set live; it's on the site after you publish.
- · polished by Zeus: Zeus rewrote the wording.
- · in the footer: linked in the footer's legal links.
- · The business facts or site features changed since — regenerate to update it.: Business Info or the site changed after the page was written.
- There’s already a page at /terms that wasn’t made here.: another page uses the address. Tick the Replace the content of /terms… box under it to use the generated page there.
When the business details change
When a page says the facts changed, click Create / regenerate pages:
- Sections nobody edited are rewritten from the new details.
- Sections you edited keep your wording. Only the business name, email, phone, address and website are updated in them, and the panel lists them so you can check.
- Sections you added yourself are never touched.
Examples
- A new US contractor site: United States, all three pages, Create pages, review, Set live & link in footer, publish.
- A UK salon: EU or UK (GDPR) plus an Opt-in required cookie banner.
- A California dentist: United States with the California privacy notice on.
- The client added a booking tool: the pages show the facts-changed note; regenerate so the Privacy Policy mentions it.
Limits and what it can't do
- Three page types only: Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.
- The pages use the site theme's colors and fonts, at the site's page width like your other sections. Each section has its heading and text as two text boxes; headings are sized for a document (the page title smaller than a hero heading, section headings smaller again). Change the sizes on the heading text box if you want.
- Text, bullets and links are always readable on the page's background, on light and dark sites. Links get a darker or lighter shade when the theme's link color would be hard to read.
- Legal pages are never added to the main menu. They're linked from the footer instead.
- The Privacy Policy is left out of the sitemap.
- A page you didn't make at /privacy, /terms or /cookie-policy is left alone unless you tick Replace the content. The address and its live state stay the same. Make a Site Backup first if you want a copy of the old content.
- On a site with other languages, the pages are written in the main language. Translate them like any other page; regenerating keeps a section's translations.
- They're not legal advice.
Credits
Free, including Polish the wording with Zeus.
Who can use it
- Agency people with the Mount Olympus tool can do everything here.
- Client people need the Editor permission. They can create, regenerate and set pages live, but Polish the wording with Zeus is agency only.
Troubleshooting
- "Choose at least one page": tick a page under Pages before you click Create pages.
- "Not changed: /privacy — tick “Replace the content” to use the generated page there.": another page already uses that address. Tick the replace box under it, or leave it as is.
- "Business Info is missing: phone, email" (or other details): the pages still work, but add the details in Business Info and regenerate for better pages.
- "Zeus’s wording wasn’t used for: …": Zeus changed a fact in those sections (or couldn't polish that part this time), so they kept the template wording. Nothing to fix; regenerate with the Zeus option on if you want to try again.
- "Privacy Policy: created from the template; Zeus couldn’t polish it this time": the page was made, with the plain template wording. Click Create / regenerate pages with the Zeus option on to try the polish again.
- "Your footer has no legal links area": turn on Add a legal links row and click Add to footer.
- The page isn't on the live site: it's still a draft. Click Set live & link in footer, then publish.
- "The page wasn’t created": try again. If it keeps failing, reload the editor.
- A legal page shows in the main menu: reload the editor. Legal pages are always hidden from the menu; regenerating hides them again.
- An older legal page still looks narrow or has very large headings: click Create / regenerate pages. Every generated section gets the current layout and keeps its wording, including your edits.
