How the Zeus Ads Review works

Zeus checks a client's Google Ads account for wasted spend and missed opportunities every month and suggests fixes. You choose which ones to apply, and most can be undone.

Updated October 15, 2026

The Zeus Review compares a client's Google Ads account over the last 30 days with the 30 days before. It points out where money is wasted and where more could be won. Every finding explains itself in plain words and comes with a clear fix, so you don't need Google Ads experience to act on it.

When it runs

  • Automatically, free: with the client's monthly Zeus scan, when Google Ads is linked and automatic scans are on. It runs at most once every 20 days.
  • By hand: click Run review now on the Zeus Review sub-tab. It costs 2 credits (shown on the button), and the credits are returned if the review fails.
  • From a connected AI assistant: you can also ask your AI assistant to run the review. It shows the cost first. See Connect your AI assistant.

The header says when it last ran, whether it was the monthly review or run by hand, and the dates it covered.

What Zeus looks for

  • Wasted spend in search terms: searches that cost money but don't fit the business.
  • Keywords that spend without results, have a low Quality Score, are disapproved, or are paused while they were bringing leads.
  • Weak ads: a Poor or Average Ad Strength, far fewer clicks than the other ads, unused headline slots, or too much pinning.
  • Missing ad extras: sitelinks, callouts, a call button and a "Services" snippet.
  • Campaign settings: budget, location targeting, ad schedule against business hours, and bidding.
  • Landing pages that don't match the ad.
  • Conversion tracking: what the account really counts (including leads imported from Google Analytics) and whether the website carries the matching tags. A new campaign that's set up but hasn't had a conversion yet isn't flagged.
  • Wins: searches to add as keywords: searches that converted but aren't keywords yet.

The top of the review shows Estimated waste, Opportunities and how many findings are still To do.

Open a finding

Click a finding (or its arrow) to open it. Each one shows:

  • What's wrong, in plain words.
  • Why it matters: what it costs, or what it could win.
  • How we know: the data from Google and the check that fired. For example, a low Quality Score lists Google's three parts (expected click-through rate, ad relevance, landing page experience) and which are below average.
  • How to fix it: step by step, with where to click in Google Ads.
  • What Zeus can do: the fix and the Zeus buttons, when Zeus can do it for you.

What Zeus can fix for you

  • Searches to block, keywords to pause, turn back on or add: one click.
  • Shows ads outside the service area: this is about one setting, "Presence or interest", not about excluded areas. Switch to people in the area changes just that setting.
  • Towns the campaign misses, or targets but the client doesn't serve: Zeus adds or removes the towns. Or click Add them to the client's service areas instead.
  • Budget runs out: Zeus raises the daily budget (never a budget shared with other campaigns).
  • Ad schedule gaps: Zeus adds the open days with the business hours.
  • Missing sitelinks, callouts, call button or snippet: Zeus shows exactly what it will add. Sitelinks come from the pages of the live website. Untick any you don't want, then click Add these sitelinks.
  • Weak ad: you see the ad as it is today, with its pins and Google's own tips. Zeus writes a stronger one in the client's voice and checks it against Google's ad policies. You see it first, then Add this ad puts it next to the old one.
  • Low Quality Score, by the weak part:
    • Expected click-through rate: Zeus writes an ad that uses the keyword and a clear reason to click.
    • Ad relevance: Zeus writes an ad with the keyword in the headlines, or moves the keyword into its own ad group with its own ad.
    • Landing page experience: Check the landing page scores the page (headline, call button and form at the top, phone, reviews, speed). On a Mount Olympus site, tick the fixes and click Improve the landing page: Zeus makes the changes as a draft in the editor (one Zeus editor message, see Credits). On any other website you get a checklist, and Write landing page copy opens the Content Generator's Landing Page type with the search filled in.
  • Ad goes to the wrong page: Send the ads to this page points them at the page that matches.
  • A lead counted twice: Count one per click fixes a conversion action that counts every repeat.
  • Conversion tracking missing: the Set up conversion tracking with Zeus flow.

Things only a person should decide, like a disapproved keyword or changing the bid strategy, get clear steps instead of a button.

Applying fixes

  1. Click the fix button in a finding, or tick the box beside each fix you want and click Apply selected.
  2. Read the summary and click Apply.

Google checks every change before anything is applied. Applying is free. Zeus never edits your existing ads. New ads are added alongside them. Writing an ad with Zeus is free too.

Applied and dismissed findings leave the list and the counts. They move to Done at the bottom, where you can Undo a change or Restore a dismissed finding. A dismissed finding comes back only if the problem gets clearly worse.

Change history and undo

Changes applied lists every change with its date. Most changes have Undo, which reverses it in Google Ads. Zeus checks each change's result at 30, 60 and 90 days (see How Zeus learns from Google Ads changes). Landing page changes Zeus makes on Mount Olympus have their own Undo page changes in the finding, and go live only when you publish.

Where else it shows

Findings also appear on the client's Edicts, tagged "Google Ads". Applied fixes show up in the client's Work done.

Examples

  • A plumber paying for "plumber salary": the finding Wasted spend in search terms lists it with its cost. Tick it with the other job searches and click Apply selected to block them all.
  • Ads showing in another state: the finding says the campaign uses "Presence or interest". Click Switch to people in the area.
  • Low Quality Score on "water heater repair": the weak part is landing page experience. Click Check the landing page, tick the fixes, then Improve the landing page, and publish the site when you're happy.
  • The client stopped answering on Saturdays: the ad schedule finding offers to add the open days from the business hours.

Limits and what it can't do

  • The review covers the last 30 days against the 30 before. The monthly review runs at most once every 20 days.
  • Run review now is limited to 3 a minute and 40 a day per agency. Applying fixes is limited to 10 a minute and 200 a day.
  • Zeus never edits your existing ads; new ads are added alongside them. He never changes a budget shared with other campaigns.
  • Landing page changes only work on Mount Olympus pages. They're saved as a draft and go live only when you publish.
  • Some findings (a disapproved keyword, changing the bid strategy) only get steps, no button. Some changes (like a new ad) can't be undone from here; remove them in Google Ads.
  • Client people never see the review.

Credits

  • Run review now: 2 credits (zeus_ads_review), returned if the review fails. The monthly review is free.
  • Improve the landing page on a Mount Olympus page: one Zeus editor message. While your plan's included messages last it's free; after that it costs credits per change (zeus_editor_action), and you're asked first: "Your … plan's included Zeus messages for this month are used. This change will use N credits — confirm to apply it." Click Continue to go ahead. See Zeus in the editor.
  • Free: applying fixes, undo, dismiss, Zeus writing an ad, Check the landing page, adding areas to the client's service areas.

Who can use it

Agency people with the Clients tool, for the clients they can reach. Run review now, Zeus's fix buttons and Apply also need the Zeus tool; with it off, Run review now is grayed out ("Zeus is switched off for your account. Ask your agency owner.") but you can still read the review, Undo and Dismiss. Client people get "Zeus is only available to your agency".

Troubleshooting

  • Zeus is switched off for your account. Ask your agency owner to turn it on.: your Zeus tool is switched off. An Owner or Admin can turn it back on under Tools on your row in Settings → Team Members.
  • "No Google Ads account mapped for this client": link the account in Client → Settings → Google Integrations.
  • "Zeus Ads Review needs 2 credits — you have 0 credits. Buy credits to continue." (with your own numbers): buy credits, or wait for the free monthly review.
  • "Zeus couldn't read this Google Ads account right now. Try again in a few minutes.": Google didn't answer. Your credits were returned.
  • "Zeus couldn't read … from Google this time, so those checks were skipped.": part of the account couldn't be read (for example the campaign assets). The rest of the review is fine. Run it again later to fill the skipped checks.
  • "Zeus couldn't draft new ads this time — run the review again to get drafts." or "Zeus couldn't check some search terms this time — those were judged by the rules only.": run the review again later.
  • "The Google connection has expired — reconnect Google in Settings, then try again. Nothing was changed.": the Owner or an Admin clicks Reconnect Google in Settings → Google Connection.
  • "This Google login can't make changes in this Ads account. Check its access in Google Ads. Nothing was changed.": give the connected Google account Standard or Admin access to the Ads account.
  • "Google's ad policies turned this down. Change the wording and try again. Nothing was changed.": edit the ad Zeus wrote and apply again.
  • "Some text is too long for Google Ads. Shorten it and try again.": shorten the headline or description.
  • "That item no longer exists in Google Ads — run a new review.": someone changed it in Google Ads since the review. Run a new one.
  • "This is already in Google Ads.": nothing to do.
  • "Google Ads turned this change down. Nothing was changed.": Google refused for another reason. Make the change in Google Ads, or dismiss the finding.
  • "Google Ads asked us to slow down for a moment…" or "Google Ads' daily limit for this account's API access has been reached…": wait a minute, or until tomorrow.
  • "Zeus can only change pages on Mount Olympus.": use the checklist or Write landing page copy instead.
  • "This one is already done.": the finding was applied already. Look under Done.
  • "You're going too fast — try again in …": wait the time shown.
