The bell sits at the top of the menu, next to the ContentForge name. On a phone it's at the top right of the screen. A red number on it shows how many notifications you haven't read yet (9+ when there are more than nine).
The bell tells you what just happened. The dashboard's Needs your attention list tells you what is still waiting on you. Many things show in both: for example a client's photos are a notification when they arrive, and stay in Needs your attention as New client photos until you look at them.
Open the bell
Click the bell. The newest notifications are at the top. Each one shows:
- an icon for what it's about
- a plain title, for example "Jane approved a Facebook post" or "New lead: Sam Rivera"
- a short line with more detail (for an approval, the client's note)
- the client's name, what kind of notification it is, and how long ago it happened
Unread ones are in bold with a blue dot. Click Show more at the bottom to load older ones (up to 100).
Press Esc or click anywhere outside the panel to close it.
Click a notification
Clicking a notification marks it read and opens the exact thing it's about:
- a client's answer on a social post opens that post on Content → Social
- a client's answer on a press release opens that release on Content → Press Releases
- a client's answer on a blog post opens the post's Post Status in the site's editor
- a client's answer on a Business Profile post, review reply, photo or profile change opens the approvals card on Local → Business Profile
- an onboarding form opens the client
- new client photos or videos open Client → Media, showing just that upload and anything after it
- a new lead opens it on Prospects
- a map scan opens the finished map
- a domain notice opens the site (or Settings → Olympus for your client domain)
- billing notices open Billing & credits
- a webhook switched off opens Settings → Integrations (for a client's webhook, the client's Settings tab)
- Zeus drafts and weather alerts open the client's Zeus tab (drafts that are only posts open Content → Social)
Mark all read and Clear read
- Mark all read marks every notification read and the red number goes away.
- Clear read deletes the notifications you've already read. Unread ones stay.
Read and cleared are shared by your whole agency: if a teammate marks one read, it's read for you too.
Marking an onboarding form reviewed (on the dashboard or the client's Details) also marks its notification read, and the other way round.
What you get notified about
- Client approval: a client approves, declines or asks for edits to a blog post or a Business Profile item in their portal.
- Social post approval: a client answers a social post you sent them.
- Press release approval: a client answers a press release you sent them.
- Press release order: part of a press release order couldn't be sent, or was turned down, and that part was refunded.
- Onboarding form: a client fills in their onboarding form.
- Client upload: a client uploads photos or videos (with the upload link or in their portal), at most once per client a day.
- New lead: someone fills in the lead form on your prospect tool.
- Map scan: a rank map scan has finished.
- Domain connected / Domain problem: a domain connects, stops loading securely or is stuck.
- Zeus drafts / Zeus weather alert: Zeus has drafted Business Profile updates, or a weather alert affects a client.
- Payment failed, Account offline, Back online: your payment didn't go through, the account went offline, or it's back.
- Low credits, Card expiring, Plan ending: your credits drop below your alert level, your card is about to expire, or your plan ends in about 7 days.
- Webhook switched off: deliveries to a webhook failed for 3 days in a row.
You don't get an upload notification for photos you or your team add to a client's media yourselves.
Who sees what
- Everyone in your agency sees the bell.
- A team member limited to some clients only sees notifications about those clients, plus the ones that aren't about a client (billing, leads, map scans).
- ContentForge staff see your notifications only while they're viewing your agency.
- Your clients never see the bell. Their portal has its own screens.
Live updates
New notifications appear on their own within a few seconds. If that can't connect, the bell checks every minute and whenever you come back to the tab.
Troubleshooting
- The bell isn't there: it only shows inside an agency. ContentForge staff see it after choosing an agency to view.
- A notification doesn't open anything: some notifications (older ones, or ones about something that was deleted) have no item to open. Clicking marks them read.
- The number doesn't go down after a teammate read something: it updates within a minute, or straight away when you click back into the tab.
