Publish to Facebook and Instagram

With the client's Facebook Page connected, scheduled Facebook and Instagram posts go out by themselves at their time, or straight away with Publish now. ContentForge marks them as posted and saves the link to the live post.

Updated October 24, 2026

Once the client's Facebook Page is connected (how), Facebook and Instagram posts in Content → Social can go out from ContentForge.

Schedule it

Pick a Planned date on the post and click Schedule. The card shows Publishes automatically, and the post goes out at that time by itself. You don't need to be signed in.

  • Unschedule, Skip or Mark as posted turns it back into a reminder (nothing is sent).
  • Change the date and click Move to send it at a new time.
  • A post scheduled before the client was connected shows Publish at this time: click it to have it go out by itself too.

Publish now

Click Publish to Facebook now (or Publish to Instagram now) on any draft, approved or scheduled post. Pictures go out in a few seconds. An Instagram video shows Publishing… for a minute or two while Instagram prepares it; you can leave the page.

What goes out

  • Facebook: the text with the link and hashtags. With no picture, Facebook shows the link's preview. One picture → a photo post; several → one post with all of them (up to 10); a video → a video post.
  • Instagram: the caption with its hashtags (links aren't clickable on Instagram). One picture → a photo post; 2 to 10 pictures → a carousel; a video → a Reel. ContentForge sends each picture at 4:5 (1080 × 1350), the shape Instagram shows best. Instagram needs a picture or a video: add one (Zeus image, or a photo from the client's Media) first.

When it's out, the post is marked Posted with an On Facebook (or On Instagram) label, the link to the live post is saved (View the live post), and the client's work done gets "Posted to Facebook" once, as when you mark a post as posted yourself.

Client approval and blog posts

  • When the client approves posts first (Client → Settings → Client approvals), a post goes out only once it's approved. A scheduled post that's still waiting at its time waits up to a day and goes out as soon as it's approved ("Waiting for the client's approval").
  • A post made from a blog post that isn't live yet waits for the blog post to go live (up to a day after its time), so its link never shows "page not found".
  • A scheduled post that couldn't go out within a day of its time isn't sent late. It says why; schedule it again or use Publish now.

When it doesn't go out

The card says why in plain words and shows Try again. Short problems on Facebook's side are retried by themselves (after 1, 5, 15 and 60 minutes). If a scheduled post still can't go out, your notifications bell tells you. If the Facebook sign-in stopped working, Settings shows Needs reconnecting and the bell asks you to Reconnect. See Facebook and Instagram troubleshooting.

ContentForge never sends a post twice on its own. If it can't tell whether a post went out (Facebook didn't answer), it asks you to check the Page first.

Taking a post down

A post published through ContentForge is live on Facebook or Instagram, so Undo posted isn't offered. Delete it on Facebook or Instagram to take it down. Deleting it in ContentForge removes it from the list only.

Limits

  • Instagram: up to 2,200 characters, 30 hashtags and 20 @ tags per caption; Reels 3 seconds to 15 minutes; up to 100 posts in 24 hours per account.
  • Facebook: up to 5,000 characters in ContentForge.
  • Publishing is free.
