Disconnect Facebook and Instagram

Disconnect a client's Facebook Page and Instagram. ContentForge's access is removed on Facebook and the stored access keys and Page details are deleted straight away. Removing ContentForge on Facebook does the same.

Updated October 24, 2026

Disconnect

  1. Open the client's Content → Social → Settings.
  2. Under Facebook & Instagram, click Disconnect, then Disconnect again to confirm.

What happens straight away:

  • ContentForge's access is removed on Facebook. If the same Facebook sign-in still connects another client's Page, its access stays until that one is disconnected too (the message says so), so the other client keeps working.
  • The stored access keys and the Page and Instagram details (names, pictures, ids) are deleted.
  • Scheduled posts that were going to publish by themselves become reminders again.
  • Posts already published stay on Facebook and Instagram. Delete them there if you want them gone.

Connect again any time with Connect Facebook & Instagram.

Removing ContentForge on Facebook

If someone removes ContentForge from their Facebook account (Facebook Settings → Business integrations), or asks Facebook to delete their data, ContentForge deletes every connection made with that Facebook account straight away. Scheduled posts for those clients don't go out: they say Reconnect Facebook, and your notifications bell tells you. Facebook shows the person a confirmation code and a page where they can check the request.

Good to know

  • Everything ContentForge stored from Facebook and Instagram is deleted when you disconnect, and always within 30 days.
  • The posts themselves (the text you wrote in ContentForge) stay in the client's Social tab.
