Payment history and the billing emails you'll get

See every payment with its invoice and PDF on Billing & credits, and know which billing emails ContentForge sends and when — receipts, plan changes, cancellations, annual renewal reminders, card expiring and low credits.

Updated October 15, 2026

Every payment to ContentForge is listed on Billing & credits, and we email the agency owner about each one. These emails come from ContentForge, not from your agency's branding.

Payment history

Open Billing & credits and scroll to Payment history. Only the agency Owner or an Admin sees it. Each row shows:

  • the date,
  • what it was for: your plan and the period it covers, a credit pack, your hosted sites, a plan change, or a press release distribution ("Press release distribution: …"),
  • the amount,
  • the status: Paid, Failed, Refunded (or Partly refunded), Open or Void,
  • View (your invoice page) and PDF (download the invoice).

The newest payments are at the top. Click Load more to see older ones.

Emails we send

All of these go to the agency owner's email address.

  • Receipt: after every successful payment (your plan, hosted sites, a plan change or a credit pack): the amount, what it was for, the date, the card used (for example "Visa ending 4242") and links to the invoice and PDF. If the payment settles one that had failed, you get one email that says your payment was received and includes the receipt, not two emails.
  • Plan changed: when you upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and annual. It says what changed, when it starts, and what happens to your credits.
  • Plan canceled: when you cancel, with the date your plan ends and a clear warning that your sites go offline that day, plus how to keep them online (Resume plan). About 7 days before the end date you get a reminder email and a Plan ending notification in the bell. You get another email if you resume.
  • Plan ended: on the end date, to tell you your sites are now offline and that choosing a plan on Billing & credits brings everything back straight away.
  • Prepaid hosting: if your hosted sites are paid beyond your plan's end date, these emails say "Your plan ends on X. Your published sites stay online until Y, the end of your prepaid hosting." You get a reminder 7 days before Y, and an email when your hosting ends and the sites go offline.
  • Annual renewal reminder: between 30 and 15 days before an annual plan (or annual hosted-site billing) renews, with the amount, the date, and how to change or cancel.
  • Card expiring: about 30 days before the card we charge expires, with an Update card button. You also get a Card expiring notification in the bell.
  • Running low on credits: when your balance drops below your alert level. See Low-credit alerts below.
  • Trial ending: 3 days before a 14-day card trial ends, with the date and the amount your card will be charged.
  • Payment failed: a red notice at the top of every page (for the Owner and Admins), a Payment failed item at the top of the dashboard's Needs your attention list, and emails to the owner. See How to manage your subscription for the failed-payment emails and dates.

Low-credit alerts

The Low-credit alert card on Billing & credits emails the owner and adds a Low credits notification to everyone's bell when your credit balance drops below a level. It's on for every agency unless you turn it off. The sidebar credit chip also turns yellow at 10 credits or fewer.

  • Default level: 20% of your plan's monthly credits (for example 80 on a plan with 400 credits a month), or 25 credits if you're not on a plan.
  • Your own level: type a number in Alert me below and click Save. Leave it empty to go back to the default.
  • Turn it off: switch the card to Off.

You get one alert each time your balance goes below the level. After that we don't email again until your balance is back above it, for example after your monthly refill or a credit pack. The email has a Buy credits button.

Only the Owner or an Admin can change the alert. Everyone else can see it.

Who can use it

  • Payment history, the low-credit alert settings and Card & invoices are for the agency Owner and Admins. Members don't see Payment history, and see the alert card read-only with "Only the agency owner or an admin can change this."
  • Every billing email goes to the agency owner's sign-in email only. Admins and Members don't get copies.

Limits and what it can't do

  • You can't add extra recipients or a separate billing email address.
  • Billing emails always come from ContentForge, never with your agency's white-label branding, because they're about your ContentForge account, not your clients.
  • Payment history only lists payments made online. If you've never paid online, it's empty.
  • Payment history shows your ContentForge payments only, not anything your clients pay you.

Troubleshooting

  • I didn't get a receipt: receipts go to the owner's sign-in email. Check the spam folder, then open Payment history and click View or PDF to get the invoice any time.
  • The emails go to someone who's left: they go to the agency owner. Ownership can't be moved in the app; contact support to change the owner.
  • A payment shows Failed: see How to manage your subscription for Pay now and Update card.
  • A payment shows Open: it hasn't been charged yet. It's usually the next invoice waiting for its date.
  • "Could not load your payments": refresh the page. If it keeps happening, contact support.
  • I didn't get the low-credit email: you only get one per drop below the level. It comes again once your balance has gone back above the level (after a refill or a pack) and then drops again. Check the card is On.

Good to know

  • Need to update your card? The card-expiring email's Update card button opens Billing & credits and takes you straight to a secure page where you update your card. You can also click Card & invoices in the Subscription card.
  • Emails go to the owner's sign-in email. To change it, the owner can change their login email on their profile.
