Settings → Shipping → Zones and rates.
A zone is a set of places: the whole country, some states or ZIP codes, a country, or a group of countries. The most specific zone wins (a ZIP-code zone beats a state, a state beats the country).
Options in a zone
- Flat rate: one price for every order.
- Free over an amount: free once the cart reaches it. It replaces the matching carrier price once it applies.
- Local pickup: at a location with pickup on.
- Live carrier rates: each service you tick, priced from your boxes and weights, plus a handling fee or percent. Every live-rate option needs a fallback flat price: if the carriers don't answer within 4 seconds, shoppers see that price under the option's name, so checkout never stops.
Live rates and labels aren't connected yet
The shipping service for live rates and labels is still being chosen. Until it's connected, live-rate options show their fallback price at checkout, and you ship orders with Mark as shipped without a label and a tracking number.
Boxes
Settings → Shipping → Setup → Boxes: inside size, empty weight and the most each box holds. Checkout picks the smallest box that fits. With no boxes saved, a default 12 × 10 × 6 in box is used.
