Sales tax for the store

Choose Stripe Tax, your own rate or no tax for store orders, separate from the tax setting for invoices.

Updated October 28, 2026

Settings → Tax is the store's own tax setting. Invoices keep theirs in Settings → Payments.

  • Stripe Tax (automatic): Stripe works out the rate for each address, product and shipping, on the business's own Stripe account (Stripe's fee applies there). Where you collect lists the registrations in that Stripe account. Registering is the business's job; Stripe charges tax only where it's registered.
  • My own rates: one of the business's tax rates (Settings → Payments → Tax) for every store order.
  • Don't add tax.
  • Prices include tax: the tax is worked out of the prices instead of added.

Each product has a Tax category (for example Clothing) so Stripe Tax finds the right rate. Abroad, no tax is added where the business isn't registered; import VAT is part of the duties.
