How to use the Site Audit

Run the Site Audit to find accessibility, on-page, trust, technical and search/AI visibility issues on a Mount Olympus site, see which pages they affect, and jump straight to the fix.

Updated October 15, 2026

The Site Audit checks your saved draft, including changes you haven't published yet, and lists what to fix to help the site do well in Google and AI search. It's free. Use it before a launch, after a big edit, or whenever you want a to-do list for a site.

How to run the Site Audit

  1. In the editor, click SEO/AEO in the left rail, then Site Audit under Optimization Center.
  2. Look at the three cards at the top: High priority, Medium priority and Notice. Each shows how many checks are at that level. Click a card to show only that level; click it again to go back to all issues.
  3. Read the checks, grouped into Accessibility Compliance, On-Page Optimization, Authority & Trust, Technical Setup and Visibility in Search & AI. Each row shows the Category, a Status badge and a Description.
  4. Click a check's name (the ones with an arrow) to see the pages and elements it affects. Click Open page or Go to element to jump there in the editor.
  5. Click Fix It to open the screen that solves it, such as Page SEO, Image Alt Text, Additional Settings, AEO Settings or Settings → Site icons. Checks that are already fine show View Details instead. If you can't open that screen, the row says which permission it needs instead of showing a button (for example "Page SEO needs the SEO settings permission — ask your agency to add it.").
  6. When you've made changes, click the refresh button (Run the audit again) at the top right.

The top bar

  • Last checked: when the audit last ran. It checks your saved draft, including unpublished changes.
  • Show: which checks to list. Issues only (the default), Everything, High priority, Medium priority, Notices or Optimized.
  • Run the audit again (refresh icon): runs every check now.

Results are saved. If the last run is more than a day old, the audit runs again on its own the next time you open it.

Accessibility Compliance

  • Image alt text (High priority): images with no alt text. Fix It opens Image Alt Text. See Image alt text.
  • Alt text length (Notice): alt text longer than 125 characters. Screen readers read it all, so keep it short. Fix It opens Image Alt Text.
  • Buttons & link labels (Medium priority): buttons with no text, so screen readers can't say what they do. Open the element and give the button a label.
  • Heading order (Notice): pages where headings skip a level, like H1 straight to H3. Change the heading level in the text widget.
  • Accessibility check: the latest score from the accessibility checker. 90 or more is optimized, 70 to 89 is medium, below 70 is high. If it has never run, it's a notice asking you to run it. Fix It opens Accessibility.

On-Page Optimization

These checks skip pages set to no-index, blog posts and popups.

  • Missing meta tags: pages with no meta title (High priority) or no meta description (Medium priority). Fix It opens Page SEO.
  • Meta tag length (Medium priority): meta titles outside 20 to 60 characters, or meta descriptions outside 70 to 160 characters. Fix It opens Page SEO.
  • Duplicate meta tags (Medium priority): pages that share the same title or description. Give each page its own. Fix It opens Page SEO.
  • H1 headings (Medium priority): pages with no H1 heading, or more than one. Each page should have exactly one. Dynamic (collection) pages are skipped.
  • Thin content (Notice): pages with fewer than 150 words. Add useful text, such as what you offer, where, and why choose you. Dynamic pages are skipped.
  • Internal links (High priority when broken): links to a page or blog post that no longer exists. Fix It opens Internal Links.
  • External links (High priority when broken): links to other sites. Broken ones only show after someone clicks Check links in External Links; until then the row says how many there are. Fix It opens External Links.
  • Hidden from search (Notice): pages set to no-index. Check that's on purpose. View Details opens Page SEO.

Authority & Trust

  • Business Info: lists what's missing from business name, phone, address, hours and logo. Three or more missing is High priority; one or two is Medium priority. Fill them in under CMS → Business Info.
  • Google Business Profile (Notice): whether the client's Business Profile is connected. Fix It opens Settings → Google Tools.
  • Customer reviews (Notice): whether a Google Reviews widget is on the site and has reviews loaded.
  • Social profiles (Notice): whether Business Info has any social profile links.

Technical Setup

  • Favicon: Optimized when a favicon is set in Settings → Site icons. With no favicon, the live site uses the Business Info logo instead, and the check is a Notice suggesting a square favicon. With neither, it's Medium priority. Fix It opens Settings → Site icons.
  • Site published (High priority): whether the site is live. Search engines can't find an unpublished site.
  • Custom domain (Notice): whether the site is on the business's own domain or still on a platform subdomain. See Connect a domain.
  • Google Search Console (Notice): whether Search Console is connected. Fix It opens Settings → Google Tools.
  • Analytics: always fine. The built-in stats collect data on every site; Google Analytics is optional.
  • Sitemap: always fine. A sitemap.xml is made for you.
  • Search engine access (High priority): the whole site is hidden from search engines. Fix It opens Additional Settings.
  • URL redirects: how many redirects are set up. View Details opens Additional Settings.
  • Cookie banner: if the site uses analytics, pixels, custom code or embeds (like YouTube or Google Maps) and has no cookie banner, this is a Notice, or Medium priority for imported sites. Fix It opens Cookies & Legal. See Cookie banner.
  • Privacy policy (Notice): whether the site has a privacy policy page. Fix It opens Cookies & Legal, where you can create one from the business facts. See Legal pages.

Visibility in Search & AI

  • Page Meta Tags: whether every indexed page has a meta title and description. High priority if any title is missing, otherwise Medium. Fix It opens Page SEO.
  • Blog Content Freshness: a Notice if there's no blog or no published posts, Medium priority if nothing was published in the last 3 months. Fix It opens Blog SEO.
  • Local Business Schema (Medium priority): it's turned off, or Business Info is missing the name, phone or address. When it's on, the row also shows how many locations there are and how many are linked to a page. Fix It opens AEO Settings.
  • AI Search Visibility (Medium priority): llms.txt is turned off. Fix It opens AEO Settings. See AEO settings and llms.txt.
  • AI crawler access (Medium priority): AI crawlers are set to Block all AI, so AI assistants can't read the site. Block AI training only doesn't count as blocked. Fix It opens AEO Settings.
  • Site’s Open Graph (Medium priority): neither the home page nor the site has a social sharing image, so shared links show no picture. Fix It opens Settings → Site icons, where you add a Default social share image for every page. A page can also have its own image (its settings → SEO tab → Social share image), which wins over the default.

Examples

  • Before a launch: run the audit, set Show to High priority, and clear those first: missing meta titles, images without alt text, broken links, and the site not being published.
  • After an import: imported sites often have many pages under 150 words and duplicate descriptions. Use Page SEO to rewrite titles and descriptions, then refresh the audit.
  • A client asks "why isn't my site on Google?": check Search engine access, Hidden from search and Site published first.
  • Monthly tidy-up: look at Blog Content Freshness and Accessibility check, then run the accessibility checker again.

Limits and what it can't do

  • It checks the saved draft in the editor, not the live site. Publish to put fixes live.
  • Each check lists up to 50 affected pages or elements, then "…and N more".
  • It doesn't fetch the live site or test speed. Broken external links come from the last Check links run in External Links.
  • Analytics, Sitemap and URL redirects are information only and never count as issues.
  • It runs at most once a day on its own. Click the refresh button for an up-to-date result.

Who can use it

  • Agency people with the Mount Olympus tool.
  • Client people with the Site Audit or SEO settings permission.

Troubleshooting

  • The audit still shows a problem I fixed: results are saved. Click the refresh button (Run the audit again) to check again.
  • I fixed it but the live site hasn't changed: the audit checks the draft. Publish the site.
  • External links says to "run a link check": open External Links and click Check links. The next audit run uses the result.
  • "Could not load the audit" or "Could not run the audit": something went wrong while checking. Click Try again; if it keeps happening, contact support.
  • "You don’t have permission to do that": you're a client person without Site Audit or SEO settings. Ask your agency.
  • "… needs the … permission — ask your agency to add it." instead of Fix It (client people): the fix is on a screen your permissions don't open. For example, Image Alt Text and Page SEO need SEO settings, and Settings → Site icons needs Editor. Ask your agency to add the permission, or to make the fix.
