Website chat

Add a chat bubble to a Mount Olympus site in one click or to any other website with a snippet, choose what it asks first, which websites may use it, and how chats arrive in Conversations.

Updated October 19, 2026

Open Settings → Website chat in the business app.

Make a chat widget

New chat widget, then set:

  • its look: color, left or right, title and subtitle (text color adjusts so it's always readable);
  • the first message and which Assistant answers (or none: people only);
  • what it asks first: name, email and phone (off, optional or required), and the texting consent wording if it asks for a phone;
  • the allowed websites: it only works on these;
  • the wording shown outside business hours.

Put it on a website

  • Mount Olympus: switch it on for the site. It appears on every page after you publish.
  • Any other website: Copy snippet and paste it before the closing body tag (on most site builders: "custom code" or "footer code"). Email the steps sends it to the person who looks after the website.
  • Add a Chat with us link anywhere: in the link picker, choose Chat with us.

Chats

New chats show in Conversations (and as Visitor chats until the visitor gives a name or email). Once they do, the chat joins that contact's conversation with their emails and texts. Your team can reply live; if the visitor has left and gave an email, your reply also goes by email.

Live replies

Replies appear in the visitor's chat as soon as they're sent, with "Typing…" while the Assistant writes. If the visitor's browser or the website blocks live updates, the chat checks for new replies every few seconds instead. Each visitor only ever receives their own chat.

Protection from spam

On top of the limits per visitor and the daily limit per chat widget, the chat has an automatic check that starts only when the volume looks unusual: lots of new chats from one place, a visitor sending messages very fast, or a sudden burst of new chats (or most of today's limit used). The visitor doesn't have to do anything: their browser does a quick check in the background (about a second) and the message goes. Normal visitors never see it. After one check, that visitor isn't checked again for 30 minutes.

Nothing shows?

  • Check the website's address is in Allowed websites (with and without www).
  • On Mount Olympus, publish after switching it on.
  • The widget must be switched on.
