This article is for the people at a business whose marketing agency uses ContentForge. Your agency gives you a login to your own portal, branded with their name and logo, where you see your reports and, if they allow it, edit your website. Agencies can share this page with their clients.
The portal address is the one in your invite email. It may be on your agency's own domain, such as portal.youragency.com.
How to accept your invite
- Open the invite email from your agency and click Create your password.
- The page says Welcome and Set up your access to your business's name. Under it you see Signing in as and your email address.
- Type Your name (optional), then Create a password and Confirm password. Passwords need at least 8 characters.
- Click Create account. You're signed in and taken to your portal.
If your email already has an account (for example, you have access to another business through the same agency), the page says "This email already has an account. Enter that account's password to accept." Type that password and click Accept invite.
The invite link works for 7 days. After that, ask your agency to send a new one.
How to sign in
- Go to your portal address and open the sign-in page (Sign in, "Access your website dashboard").
- Enter your Email and Password.
- Click Sign in.
You land on your Performance overview, or on your list of websites if your agency hasn't shared reports with you. If you work with more than one business through the same agency, a Business menu at the top lets you switch between them.
To sign out, click Sign out at the top of any portal page. On a phone it shows as an icon.
How to reset a forgotten password
- On the sign-in page, click Forgot your password?.
- Under Reset your password, enter your Email and click Send reset link.
- You see "If that email has portal access, a reset link is on its way. It works for 1 hour."
- Open the email and click the link. On Set a new password, enter your New password and Confirm password, then click Save password.
You're signed in straight away, and you get a "Your password was changed" email. If you didn't change it, use the link in that email to reset it again.
Your agency can also send you a reset link from their side.
Limits
- Invite links work for 7 days. Reset links work for 1 hour and only once.
- Passwords need at least 8 characters.
- After 5 wrong passwords for your email, sign-in pauses for 1 minute. After 10, for 15 minutes. After 20, for 1 hour. The count clears when you sign in correctly.
- Wrong attempts from one internet connection are also counted, so a shared office connection can be paused after many failed tries.
- You can ask for up to 3 reset emails an hour.
Examples
- First day: you get the invite, create a password, and go straight to your reports.
- New phone, forgotten password: tap Forgot your password? on the phone, open the email there, and set a new password.
- You look after two businesses: one login, and the Business menu at the top switches between them.
Who can use it
Anyone your agency invites. Your agency chooses what you can see and do in the portal. If something you expect is missing, ask them. They can change it in a minute.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid email or password": check for typos and that you're using the email the invite went to. Then try Forgot your password?.
- "Too many attempts — try again in N minutes.": too many wrong passwords. Wait the time shown, then try again or reset your password.
- "This invite link isn't valid." or "This invite link has expired or was already used. Ask your agency to send a new one.": the link is more than 7 days old, was replaced by a newer invite, or you already used it. If you already set a password, just sign in. Otherwise ask your agency to resend the invite.
- "This reset link has expired or was already used. Ask your agency for a new one.": reset links last 1 hour and work once. Request a new one with Forgot your password?.
- "Passwords don't match": the two password boxes are different. Type them again.
- "Use at least 8 characters.": choose a longer password.
- "This email already has an account — enter that account's password.": when accepting an invite, use the password you already have for this email.
- "Your account doesn't have portal access.": this login isn't linked to any business in this portal. Click Sign in with a different account and use the email your agency invited.
- "Your access has been turned off. Contact your agency.": your agency paused your access. Ask them to turn it back on.
- "This account doesn't have access to this portal.": you're signing in on a different agency's portal address. Use the address from your own invite email.
- "That sign-in link has expired — please sign in again.": sign in with your email and password.
- "This portal is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later.": the portal is paused on your agency's side. Contact your agency.
- No email arrived: check spam and junk folders, then ask your agency to resend it.
