US carriers only deliver business texts from numbers that are registered to that business. Calls work on day one; texting waits until the registration is approved, usually 1–3 weeks.
Fill it in
Settings → Phone & texting → Set up texting. Most of it is filled in from the client record:
- Business details: legal name (exactly as on the IRS EIN letter), EIN, business type, industry, address, website.
- Contact person: name, email and mobile.
- What you'll text: replies, appointment reminders, review requests, follow-ups, offers. We pick the right kind of registration from this.
- How customers agree: website forms, "they text us first", at the counter or by phone.
- Review: we write the sample messages (from your own automations where we can), the opt-in, STOP and HELP replies. Edit them if you like.
Our checks before the fee
Before anything is sent (and a review fee is spent) we check:
- the website loads and shows the business name;
- there's a privacy policy with the texting wording carriers require. On a Mount Olympus site, Add the texting wording writes the privacy policy and texting terms onto the site in one click;
- the legal name matches the website's name (a warning you can go past).
Each failed check says exactly what to fix.
Send it
Send for review. The setup fee ($25 by default) is charged once; a resubmission after a rejection costs $15 (both set in Admin → Pricing).
- If the agency chose We review first (Settings → Business app texting), a client's registration waits for the agency, who gets a bell and presses Send to the carriers.
- Sole proprietors (no EIN) can text too, with one number and lower limits: we text a code to the owner's mobile, entered within 24 hours.
Approved or not
- Approved: the business's numbers start texting; the business and agency are told.
- Not approved: the carriers' reason is shown in plain words with the fix (for example "The legal name and EIN don't match the IRS records…"). Fix it and send it again.
